This is just heart breaking news. The shock has not yet worn off. This show is just not what it was and this won't make it any better.

From Diane's Official Blog
Tuesday, April 15, 2008 Hello to everyone,
Elvis has left the building...
You might have heard that I will be leaving SVU after this season. Moving on is a difficult thing but incredibly exciting as well. I am really looking forward to the new opportunities that await me.
I will miss getting to be with such a wonderful cast, play with such an amazing crew, bond with the greatest of guest stars and portray what has come to be one of my favorite women, Novak.
I am grateful for the experience and opportunity that Dick Wolf and the SVU gang offered me. It has been a great first acting job and I’m very proud to be the longest running female ADA in Law and Order franchise history.
My deepest thanks goes out to all the lovely fans who have supported me and my alter ego Casey for all these years. Your letters, blogs, websites and the like have brought many smiles to my face and I sincerely appreciate the effort that has been put in by so many of you.
With thanks to you all,
Diane

I saw this on her blog today myself. I'm still in shock. Can't think of anything else to say.

Hmmmmmm i'm also still in shock. And the thought of Diane/Casey no longer a part of SVU is incredibly depressing I wish her the best of luck in all her future endeavors though.

I felt it was awesome that Diane was so kind to her fans in her blog. She is truly an amazing person. Since the above blog entry came from Diane's site maybe we should give her site credit for the blog also.

Thursday, April 17, 2008 Feeling the love Wow, I am floored by how wonderful you all are making me feel with your lovely comments. Like you, I will miss Novak terribly, but the excitement of opening a new chapter in my life is palpable. The fun thing about being an actor is getting “live” many different lives and I’m looking forward to seeing what person I get to experience next. For the next few weeks though I’m just trying to soak up the unique adventure that is SVU. I found myself hanging back today, watching Mariska, Chris and Dann laugh and joke (they really are amazing), took in Ice and Belzer swapping stories, Adam sharing his warm smile and even absorbed Mike Doyle’s endless expertise. I am a fortunate gal and I am VERY grateful for the life and joy that SVU and the people involved with it have brought me. I get warm and fuzzy when I think about the good times we’ve had, and even though I’m choosing to move on, those will last me a lifetime. As for whoever is lucky enough to be prosecuting for the squad next: I’m sure they’ll be fantastic. They might have a rough time of it in the beginning (I know first hand how tough the loyal fans can be) but I know whomever it is, you’ll welcome them as much as you did Stephanie and me (and possibly love them too). I have had an amazing five years; thanks for coming along on for the ride! Sincere appreciation, Diane www.dianeneal.com/DianeNeal.com/Blog/Entries/2008/4/17_Feeling_the_love.html

Thanks for posting Diane's latest blog, oowsvu. That makes the following news even more disturbing: Ausiello Report 4/17/08 Exclusive: Were Dourdan and Neal (Gulp) Fired? I believe it was Mark Twain who once said: "Cast shake-ups are like Transformers — there is usually more to them than meets the eye." And I was reminded of how true those words were this week following my back-to-back exclusives that CSI and Law & Order: SVU would be losing Gary Dourdan and Diane Neal, respectively. Initially, I reported that the actors were leaving for the most mundane of reasons: Both of their contracts were up, and they had decided to move on. But in the hours that followed the posting of those stories, new information came to light that now calls into question my original sources the exact circumstances surrounding the exits — specifically, whether the stars were leaving of their own accord or if they had been shown the door. In the case of Dourdan, an insider at the show insists that he and CSI execs "mutually agreed" to part ways for "creative reasons." However, a CBS mole claims the 41-year-old actor was essentially fired, adding that producers are trying to be "as supportive and protective" of him as possible by portraying the departure as mutual. That same mole wasn't willing to share the specific reason for Dourdan's ouster, except to say that it involves an "ongoing problem personal to Dourdan." That doesn't exactly narrow it down. In 2005, Dourdan pleaded no contest to misdemeanor battery and was ordered to stay away from then-girlfriend Anne Greene and attend domestic-violence counseling. And last July, a video of him allegedly attacking a TMZ photographer made the rounds on the Web. Meanwhile, CBS still won't officially "confirm or deny" that Dourdan is on his way out, even as a search for his replacement is underway. Repeated calls to the goodbye guy's camp went unreturned. Over at SVU, the situation surrounding Neal has become equally suspicious. On Tuesday, a show spokesperson confirmed to me exclusively that the actress would be vacating her role as ADA Casey Novak in what appeared to be a mutual decision. However, shortly after I posted that story, a show insider says an emotional Neal gathered the crew together on the set and informed them that she had just been fired. While Neal confirms that she "did talk to the crew" about her departure, she declined to say whether she used the F-word. "Rumors are rumors," she shrugs. "I love the crew. The crew loves me. We've really gotten along and bonded over these past five years. And they're always looking out for me and watching my back." Asked if she was blindsided by the news, Neal, choosing her words carefully, responds, "I don't know if blindsided is the right word.... I've lasted longer – by several years – than almost any other ADA [in the Law & Order universe]. So every year I've been like, 'Is this going to be the one when I leave?' Dick Wolf is known for replacing his cast regularly. And the truth is, I'm really looking forward to the future." There's the evidence. Who/what to believe? Let the deliberations begin in the comments section below. We all know Diane is a gracious lady. If she was fired she is holding up very well as her latest blogs will atest . I am still in SHOCK! Even more so.

I hate to see this posted by Ausiello if it isn't true. It seems like by posting this Ausielleo is giving credance to gossip in both Diane and Gary's cases. I would hope neither actor would be hurt by this, if it is not true.
Thanks, oowsvu for posting the link to Diane's site when you posted her blog here. I feel that she should get credit also for this as it is from her blog and her site.

This must be prime contract time, now that Diane and Adam have both announced they will not be returning. I, like Munch, like a good conspiracy theory, and I'm startingt to wonder if this is one myself.

Exactly the same feeling I had when Chris Noth left as Logan on The Mothership.
