I was gasping so much i think i nearly passed out during this episode! I too got very wierd looks when i screamed "HURRY UP AND FIND THE RIGHT KEY FIN!!!! Im glad i wasn't the only one who thought that she was going to say yes! It's wierd how we all watched exactly what happened and yet she's so good at acting that she can still make us believe a completely different thing! Well, i was certainly confused though. Very confused. I was like did this happen, did this happen, arghhh what happened ! Did enjoy this episode though - I thought it was different to most others and it was a nice change, well a not so nice change to be honest! Anyone else think it was awful when she was in the basement??! Definately an award winning/nominee performance! Yeah and i agree - what has happened to fin's hair???

Beth, I have been asking what happened to Fin's hair since this episode. I have been a fan of his for 21 years and not on Alert or his website mentioned why he cut his hair.

Fin doesn't look the same with shorter hair! He looked fab with longer hair, and now - gone! As for Olivia, I think it looks good whatever, but I liked it best mid-length. It suited her short, and long too but it was just wierd when it was long. Nice but really wierd in a different sort of way. Seriously though a "Fin grow back your hair!" petition must be started guys! Where the heck has it all gone! And Finaddict - im not surprised you're such a fan! He's great stuff (as is Ice-T, i mean what a name!) Beth x

When I saw this episode I assumed it was a wig to make Fin look like a prison guard. ThenI realised it was for real. I'm really out of the loop on this one.

Eh, I know this thread is a few weeks old but who cares lol
I liked the episode, but it was too centered around Olivia. I was one of the many that was shocked by Fin's hair as well, and hate the fact that Fin cut his hair. Personally, he looked better with the longer hair but I guess that's his choice. Back to the episode, I was a bit disturbed at some points, like the basement part where Olivia was almost raped, it was a bit too over-done in a way. The part with Fin fumbling with the keys, yeah, I kind of predicted something like that was going to happen.
Over-all it was certainly an interesting episode. I wonder how Mariska felt about filming that beginning shower scene, must have felt odd in a way.

I know! I also wonder how she felt about filming the whole basement scene... that has got to be pretty awful to act. It would be cool to see an interview...

dont mean to sound horrible but how can you say that the episode was TOO involved around olivia?? you have to take it from the writers POV...olivia's mother was raped and olivia suffered for it horribly by havving to take care of her becos she was drunk all the time..olivia vowed to herself not to let anything like that happen to her....she joined svu and helps get rid of the sickos that treat people the way her father treated her mother...now in this episode it was inly right to have it focused on Olivia as it was a womens prison after all and on top of that....facing the one thing that she never wanted to face...being raped.....her world would come crashing down if that happened.....also for the time frame..it wasnt too long in my opinion becos they had to show liv defending herself and she deffo would not have let her guard down so quickly...good on her for fighting that hard....then she HAD to succumb to him and then fin found her.......deffo WAS NOT too long and it had every right to belong to Liv becos Mariska acted her ass off in those scenes.

I loved this episode because it showed the two different typed of cops that there are in the world, the good cops and the bad cops, who don't care what they get in their jobs, as long as they don't get caught. It was shocking to see another cop almost rape Benson in this episode, because of knowing what Benson's mom went through, and what Olivia is a product of.

I really loved this episode. I often wondered how Liv would react/deal with being put into a situation like that, then to see her almost get raped...I felt sick. Scratch that, I felt nauseous. She performed that basement scene flawlessly. Although it's only tv, it felt very real - the emotions that played across the screen...I think the effect the writers and actors were trying to protray came off realistaclly. I can only imagine what it must really feel like to be in that position (getting raped/almost getting raped).
I taped it but I couldn't bring myself to watch it a second time - which is saying a lot. I normally can watch every single rerun a billion times with no problem but this time it was so very difficult.

Sorry for warming up an old thread again, but I live in Germany, so I watch the show in a different sequence. :S I also saw the PTSD episode before actually seeing this one (which was confusing), so I suppose I was biased before in that I knew it would be very intense, and knew Olivia would almost get raped - but almost. Didn't know what "almost" meant before though, so it was still pretty shocking!
I liked the episode. I can understand why people say it's very Olivia centered, but I personally didn't mind this as it allows for greater character depth. However, I think there should be more episodes centered around other characters, too.
Overall, let me start by saying that we saw some amazing acting performances in this episode. Mariska Hargitay obviously did a hauntingly great job, as did Ice-T (Fin would be the only officer at SVU who could credibly pose as a tough prison guard) and whoever played Harris in such a creepy way. I actually liked Chris Meloni's facial expressions in the tiny scene between Elliot and Olivia as well, the conflict in his face (should I ask or not, is she really fine?) and the softening in his eyes. But the performance that impressed me the most was one of a guest star whose name I don't know, that of the girl who played Ashley. She was amazing!
Obviously, this episode contained some scenes that were hard to stomach, and I really was one of the people sitting there almost shouting at her TV to get Fin to find the right key. The basement scenes were very dark, with an oppressing atmosphere, and all the screaming really got to me - that was the worst part. It was very graphic, too, and I was quite surprised at this. It really made me uneasy - but then, that's what it's supposed to do.
Overall, I like the way they conveyed the complete loss of control in prison, how subjected the prisoners were to the guards' abuses (and it was not just Harris, apparently), and how Olivia was not a cop anymore in there. It got the dimensions of the case across.
