Anna Paquin is probably best remembered for her performance in "The Piano" from 1993 for which she won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress. She played the mute daughter of Holly Hunter, who also won an Oscar as Best Actress. She also was nominated for an Emmy in 2007 for "Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee" as Best Supporting Actress in a Mini Series or Movie. I just want to know why Mariska wasn't there! I hope that everything is okay. I was definetly looking forward to seeing her dress too! I always love hers. Darn.

I've heard that True Blood is fantastic; I'd be watching if I still had HBO in my room, so congrats to Anna on that win. Glad to see something different from same old, same old. Very glad to see John Adams do so well, as well as Kate Winslet finally win something! (One would have thought she'd have won for something before this, but alas, no). Kind wish that hHouse had won for best drama, and still waiting to see Battlestar Galactica get to the final 5 (no pun intended for those who watch. )

I'm sad Mariska didn't win, but so excioted that Kate won! And Heath Ledger! I've been watching clips purely for his award! It must have been so emotional for his family.

The general consensus was that he very much deserved the award; his death was only the unfortunate period at the end of the sentence. The other nominees must have known that Heath was in, and I'm glad he was.
