my mom and bff watched my taped ep today and i realized that the end was a little bland in that El and Dale played a deadly game of slash-and-dash and all Liv said was 'are you ok?' and he said 'yeah' and then they were just standing over the unconscious body of Dale and the dead body of Ryan! El did not even curl up in a ball in pain when Liv untaped him! i do not get it! i know that it was the season finale and they were cliffhanging us be please give a little drama to the fact that El's bff just kissed a murderer and he has five bleeding slashes over his chest and stomach! Sometime during last two seasons svu has been influenced by soap dramas and action films; a lot of shocking twists and action but afterwards every injuri is just like a paper cut in a finger. First 8 seasons svu was like "a real" drama and close to earth. I was happy they dealt Olivia's assault in the beginning of this season, because the way she reacted on it, that was realistic! I mean the way she became angious afterwards after not going throught the issue earlier... But then, last season Kathy's heart stopped beating after giving birth Eli, but an hour later she was fine. And Elliot got shot through chest and the day after he was chasing perps... I mean c'mon... The minute Dale started cutting Elliot with an inch deep slashes I wasn't even expecting it would affect him anymore than a slap into face. Hopefully the issue of Olivia kissing Dale will be brought up in next season even if in 2 line conversation between El and Liv. The show is still one of the bests but maybe they should return being more realistic again. I'm sure people won't stop watching the show even if it doesn't resamble all the other predictable drama shows.

I'm beginning to wonder if the writers even care about being realistic anymore, since they aren't even close. Contrary to what they might think, we were in fact paying attention when Elliot was slashed 5 or 6 times with a decent sized knife, screamed in agony, and then proceeded to kick Dale's butt and wriggle out of his confines as if nothing has happened. Apparently, he has a steel chest that temporarily oozes blood with it comes in contact with another metal object. Never mind a steel head as well, since he dealt with a severe blow to the head dandily.

I was wondering about the same thing. I can understand the adrenaline rush but once it wears off...wouldn't Elliot have at least winced in pain...something to prove he's human? I really found that ending to lacking in so many ways. That was a real disappointment. My brother inlaw cracked up - he was shaking his head as if Elliot was insane or something. He just looked at me and said, "that's impossible. He still can't be staniding after that!"
I just hope they do a better job next season.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Christopher Meloni however that scene in Zebras while getting slashed...right there I realized the 'acting' part. I mean, of course I know they are all acting, fake things like that but I would have bought the pain if Christopher managed to squeezed out some tears in his eyes or someone putting eye drops in his eyes so it would at least say tears of pain. I know Elliot's macho but come on...I believed Mariska's acting pain in Undercover and I believed Isabel Gillies' acting pain in Paternity but I don't believe in Christopher's acting pain in Zebras. That sucks. But I don't really hold it too much against him, I still love him to bits.

Hmmm, I know I'm a bit late, but I only just saw this episode. First of all, it was great because even though it had the typical red herring, the end did surprise me. I knew it was all going a bit too smoothly when the guy with schizophrenia just did everything, and we all knew it all along....but I honestly didn't see the change in Dale coming. Very dramatic on this end, and I felt bad for the guy with schizophrenia, because really, he does have an illness. It annoys me a bit when crime shows use this though, because it makes it seem like all people with a delusional disorder are necessarily violent. In reality, most are not, and are mainly a danger to themselves rather than other people - and this is mainly due to suicidal feelings or drug abuse as a method of coping.
Anyway, other than that, I have the same small points of criticism that have been mentioned before: 1.) Dale and Olivia kissing...that just looked bizarre (and yucky), and why would he buy into that? At that point, shouldn't he get suspicious, since she's basically pushing him towards Elliot? 2.) Elliot's "injuries"? The guy is getting slashed, and he hardly winces! It's just unrealistic to me, and Meloni's acting did not convince me at all. Also, the second it was over, he was just "fine". Bleeding from cuts all over your chest - no biggie. And Olivia acted like it was no big deal, either. That was just weird!
