www.daemonstv.com/2011/03/15/nbc-pilot-rem-signs-on-five-cast-members/NBC has signed on five new cast members for its drama pilot REM. They will be acting opposite the show’s lead Jason Isaacs (Brotherhood). Deadline.com details that REM is an “Inception-style thriller that centers on Detective Mark Britten (Isaacs), who wakes up after an accident to find he is living in two different realities, one in which he has killed his son Rex and one in which he has killed his wife Hannah. Wilmer Valderrama (That ’70s Show) will play Detective Richard Vega, Britten’s gregarious new partner in one reality. And Steve Harris (The Practice) will play a seasoned, cynical, wry-humored police detective, who is Britten’s partner in the other reality. BD Wong (Law & Order: Special Victims Unit) will play Britten’s therapist in the reality where he has killed his son.”Laura Allen (Terriers) and Dylan Minnette (Men of a Certain Age) were also cast in this project. Minnette will play Britten’s teenage son Rex, while Allen is Rex’s tennis coach, who has become his confidante in the wake of the recent loss of his mother. REM comes from Kyle Killen (Lone Star) and 20th Century Fox TV.

The title of this series has been changed to AWAKE and has been picked up by NBC. This means that B.D.'s status on SVU is up in the air. A decision has not been made as to whether he might appear on a recurring basis.Cherry Jones has also been added to the cast. She played President Allison Taylor on 24. The show films in Hawaii so it would be difficult for B.D. to appear on SVU but Warren Leight tweeted that he would try to snag him for a few SVU episodes.
I wonder what this will mean for the role of the Forensic Psychiatrist. I hope we don't get roving docs they way we got roving ADA's.

B.D. definitely deserves something a little meatier than what he gets on SVU sometimes, though it sounds like he's playing the same type of character (he is good at it!)

I agree he needs some meatier. I think he is very good at the character type he plays and wish him all the best.

He's a very talented actor. I've seen him in All American Girl, Father of the Bride (both movies). He was in one with Kurt Russlle (can't remember the name but it was an action movie). So he is very versatile. Good luck to him and the show.
