Well I'm usually an A/O shipper but I had this funny little idea in my head and I thought it would fit here! I'm still writing my A/O fic but this one is shorter and a nice distraction for me.

Here comes Chapter One!
She had been ready to knock with the firm intension to ask Casey for a drink. Just a friendly ‘after work’ drink to unwind a little after a tough case.
But when she looked up at the door her heart skipped a beat, it was slightly open and gave a perfect view on Casey and a guy, hugging, here in the middle of her office! Moron! She thought bitterly.
She considered for just a second interrupting the ‘couple’, but getting back to her senses she realized that it was ridiculous. Casey was straight and nothing she did would change that. Turning around she sighed wishing to forget about those unrequited feelings.
She had to come back to the precinct anyway, how could she sleep now with the image of Casey and that guy in her head? She had to find a good distraction and what better than a bunch of waiting files on her desk!
It was much wiser than to go and drag her sorry self in the nearest cop bar to drown her sorrows in the bottle. The last thing she wanted was to turn like her mother! Or like her father incidentally but that’s another story!
Reaching the corridor leading to the 1-6 she heard a noise coming from inside. She had expected to be alone at this hour so she was surprised when pushing open the doors she found Elliot, sitting at his desk fumbling with a pack of files.
“Elliot!” she exclaimed surprised. Apparently the surprise was on both sides because he jumped a little before turning around.
“Olivia? What are you doing here?”
“Well I was about to ask you the same thing” she said taking off her jacket.
“Let say I’m still on probation” he answered with a small smile.
Looking at her partner and friend with compassion Olivia approached her desk. “Kathy’s still furious?” It was more of a rhetorical question because she already knew the answer.
One week ago, the squad had been under a lot of pressure with a delicate case involving the son of an influent political figure. The detectives had been working for weeks all hours of day and night, without any leads on the suspect. Last week had reached a pick of stress for the whole team but finally they had succeeded to get the bad guy, after a terrible shooting outside of his apartment.
After such a long awaited victory, the squad had decided to go and celebrate at Mahoney’s. But when Elliot had finally returned to his house, Kathy had been seething. She had heard from the local news that a shooting had occurred some hours ago and that the detectives from the “Sex Crimes” unit had been involved. She had called alarmed at the precinct and fortunately, Cragen had been in his office instantly reassuring her that Elliot had not been hurt. Immediately after that she had been furious, upset that her husband had not taken the time to call her to let her know he was ok, instead of going to a bar to get drunk with his colleagues!
He had argued more or less steadily that he had been under the spur of the moment and that if he had thought for a minute that Kathy would get so worried he would have called her on the spot. After all no one had mentioned that a cop had been killed, and shootings were common in his line of work. Kathy had been so mad that she had closed the door in his face telling him not to come back before he was ready to apologize properly.
Of course misplaced pride and alcohol had not been a good counsellor and Elliot had stubbornly turned around going back to the precinct for the night.
Now three days after the incident, he was still sleeping in the crib. He had apologized to Kathy the very next day after their fight but she had been dubious about the sincerity of his excuses, so she had been reluctant to let him come back so easily.
“Yeah, she told me that she wasn’t sure I really understood how tough it had been on her.” He shrugged dismissing the idea with a sigh.
“Elliot” he was really a great guy but completely out of the loop when it came to face and quell his wife’s insecurities. “Put yourself in her shoes for a minute here! She was terrified because of what she’d heard”
“I get that Olivia, but I’m not going to call her every minute of the day to tell her I’m ok” he was being a hypocrite here but he didn’t want to give up like that.
“Elliot you’re being childish” she admonished with a smirk.
“I know, I know but is she trying to understand me? And I’d like to remind you that I apologized already, what am I supposed to do? Women are so frustrating sometimes!” he grumbled with a frown.
“Hum, standing right here!” she exclaimed waving in his direction.
“It’s not the same” acknowledging her raised eyebrow he added “you get my drift, you’re a woman alright but you’re different… you know” he emphasized his last words with an expression that said ‘you know what I mean’
“I know what?” she asked smiling patiently. She didn’t want to give him the easy way out.
“Well you know” she stood her ground so he had no choice but to be more explicit. “Well first of all, you’re a cop, ok. So you understand my point of view, you know how hard it is to keep it together everyday, I don’t need to bring work into my personal life.” She gave a slight nod encouraging him to continue. “Well then there’s the fact that you’re, you know”.
“The fact that I am what Elliot” she wanted to hear him say it.
“The fact that you’re…the fact that you’re gay ok!” he nearly shouted out, women were indeed frustrating.
“And what? Elliot! What does it change? I’m still a woman and I still get why Kathy is upset. Look I know it’s not easy for a man to understand women, but come on you could at least try.” She was getting a bit angry now.
“Well what do you know about being a man? Women should make efforts to understand us too!” this was ridiculous, now is own partner was against him!
The picture was priceless, the two of them were nearly nose to nose standing their grounds stubbornly, daring the other one to make the first move. Then suddenly the power went out and the precinct was in the dark.
