One would think so. But, it all depends on what Mariska did with her last name after the wedding. She seems to be using Hargitay professionally, but we don't know about legally. It's possible that her last name is legally Hermann now, which might explain the blog post naming him as "August Hermann". Then again, it could just be that the staff member that posted didn't know or made a mistake. Who knows! See here: www.mariska.com/blog/33

They may keep it private. Besides, who on SVUbythehost got that info? Wouldn't they annouce it to the public, Mariska and her family?

Which are you talking about munchkin, the middle name or the last name? I was thinking middle. Haven't they told us the last name yet?

I think his last name is 'Hermann' or 'Hermann - Hargitay'

I think they might stick with one last name. Can you imagine what it would be like to have a teacher call you by your last name if it were two?

I was thinking middle. Haven't they told us the last name yet? Ok, I wasn't sure. There was conversation about both for a second. So just to clarify: No official word on a middle name yet, but last name is assumed to be Hermann in accordance to the post on Mariska's blog. Phew! Celebrity babies are confusing. And the irony is, they haven't actually done anything yet!

And yeah you're right about that, they are confusing.

And the irony is, they haven't actually done anything yet! Would that be dramatic irony?

Yay! Wow... 10lbs! Yikies! I'm glad she sounds like she's doing great! I like the name August. It's unique. Personally, I would guess on either just "Hermann" or "Hargitay-Hermann" for the last name, as the mother's name is usually is the first one to appear in a compound last name. Both my cousin and roommate have compound last names and it drives them crazy. I would imaging it would be even worse with two that start with the same letter...! Though it seems one name usually gets un-officially dropped somewhere along the line just for ease of use. By the way, which recurring role does Mariska's husband play? I never knew this! *feels like a failure as a fan*

He plays the defense lawyer Trevor Langan. You can see him on Painless and he appeared this season I think in Class.
