Oh. I didn't know that. Did anyone ever read "The Diary of Anne Frank"? It was one of the best books I have ever read.

I've read it twice now, and I still cry every time I read it. It's powerful stuff.

I think everyone should have to read the book. I appreciate the video on Belz's connection.
My father's side of the family lost every member who lived in Hungary in Auschwitz. My paternal grandfather and my great Uncle Issac brought their families here in 1914. Their descendants of which I am one, are the only survivors.

Wow, interesting that you're connected, Finaddict. My family is rumored to have some Jewish heritage somewhere, but they all came from Italy, so it wouldn't have been as close to us. It's ironic that the Belz is even Jewish in the first place!

It's ironic that the Belz is even Jewish in the first place! I came of course from a dual faith background..but was raised in a predominantly Jewish neighborhood. I had neighbors who were Holocaust survivors and friends whose parents had been. I am very glad to see that you and others are learning about it. My fear has always been if its forgotten it can happen again. So many I work with who are in their 20's and 30's seem to think it was over exagerated..very scary..Also there were Jews in Italy who suffered under Mussolini..My mom had a book about it. I need to find it and tell you the name of it..very good read

The name of the book is Garden of the Fitzi Continis. Written in Italian it was translated into English in 1965. It was also made into a movie. Another good Holocaust Book is The Hiding Place. Its the story of Dutch Christians in Amsterdam. Its of course a true story. Corrie Ten Boom is who the story is about. Her father and her sister and herself hid Dutch Jews in their house. They were all arrested and sent to a concentration camp. Corrie was the only one to survive. It was also made into a movie. Vanessa Redgrave was one of the stars. I recommend reading them both or at least seeing if you can find the Movies.

great video, thanks.
two of my great-uncles were actually sent to a Camp. one of them, unfortunately was sickly and died before they were liberated. they lived in Italy and weren't Jewish, Trublu. i forget the story of how they got there, but they had very dark features (i do too) and they were put in a Camp.
i've read The Diary of Anne Frank twice and i recently saw the play. i cried every time.

Caseybeatsalex, I am so sorry for your loss. Those were dark times. even a hint that one was Jewish(like physical features was enough to put one in camps or to death).
