Topic I stole from the caseynovak Yahoo! Group... Just incase you were wondering ;D
How has Casey changed since she first joined the squad in Serendipity?
Casey i think has changed in more ways than one. First, she has changed around the squad. They are a little more accepting of her now, so i think she feels more comfortable being around them. They are all dealing with the same things day in and day out now, so it makes it easier to understand them. Which brings me to the next thing, she knows where her bounderies lie with the squad. In "Serendipity," she was insistant on watching their every move, but now, she's toned it down a bit. She lets them do their job, and they let her do her job. Last thing, i think she is changing on a more personal level as well. Prosecuting SVU cases is a long way from white collar. I think she's learned more about the gray in between, instead just the black and white. Perps are victims, victims are perps, and now there are children involved too. I think prosecuting SVU cases is something that she can use to learn more about herself.
Also, from a slightly different perspective, we have seen Casey's role in SVU deteriorating over the season, reduced to basically cameos. I mean, I understand that some think that the ADA isnt as big a part as say, the detectives, but Alex got a ton more screen time than Casey is getting. Remember "Poison," it was kind of like Alex's "Guilt." We didnt get a chance to see Alex do any more episodes like that, but i think Casey is more than overdue.

I know!!! I really like the court room scenes. I know we can't see Novak as involved in the cases as the dectives, but she does play a big part in getting victims and perps justice....

Hey Trublu I am in total agreement with you on how Casey has changed on the show. She def understands just how different and challenging the Special Victims Unit is compared to the other units. Remember "Poison," it was kind of like Alex's "Guilt." We didnt get a chance to see Alex do any more episodes like that, but i think Casey is more than overdue. Great comparison! I actually loved Novak in "Poison" and trust me I don't say that very often . The ADAs have always been my favorite part of the show so even though its Casey and not Alex, I def think she should have more screen time as well.

That is really why I watch, the legal stuff. Alex was the character *and the cutie!* who started me watching SVU faithfully in the first place. I stayed for the Novak cuteness though. I was heartbroken when Serena left the mothership and that they cancelled TBJ... but now Wolf is developing a new series based on the ADA's! YESSSSSS...

Oh yes, Alex was gorgeous, intelligent, passionate, and not afraid to be bitchy to people and I loved her for it!...but anyway this is a thread about Casey...lol I heard about this new series about the ADAs but I thought it was just a rumor. I'll def be watching it when it starts ;D...and we can always hope that Serena will make an appearance on this show because I hate the way she left...I swear it was the most random thing I've ever seen on television!

Well, as of right now, Ive seen the new show mentioned in a few articles about TBJ and Mr. Wolf. I dont think NBC has confirmed it yet though. And yes, I too hate the way Serena left. The lesbian thing, though certainly not unwelcome to me was just too random for her character. No warning, no behavior that would have indicated it. Maybe we can fix that now.

I hope NBC confirms it! Imagine the possibilities! We could have Serena, Casey, and more of our ADAs make guest appearances on the same show and meet some new ones ;D And yeah the Serena thing...probably just some stunt Mr. Wolf pulled to say he had a lead lesbian character or something. I think maybe if it was brought up sooner it would be better but at the VERY end? ...so pointless

A show for ADA's.. Very intersting. What cases would they have?

I wonder if maybe they would just get a mish-mosh of cases? Or maybe its more about the nitty gritty (aka, maybe some of their personal lives?)

Yes. I loved Serena on Law & Order. She was so cool. I hope the ADA show includes all the ADA that left all the Law & Orders.

Good evening girls, Hello to you all! How are you girls tonight? I hope you are rocking and rolling, just as I am! Hey, I am SO glad that someone started talking about Casey here. Thanks, Queequeg! I appreciate it, girl! I just wanted to give my thoughts on this topic. From what I have seen, Casey has not been around for very long, and I think she is still somewhat in the shadow of Alex Cabot, unfortunately. However, she is emerging into her own character and person, and I am very glad to see that. I saw an episode last Tuesday on NBC that had a whole lot of Casey in it too. I think she is being included more in them, at least from what I have seen. Plus, her experiences are undoubtedly affecting her as well. Like her awful assault that she endured in "Night." Goodness, that poor girl. That was hard to watch. However, beaten and bruised as she was, the girl came back and ahead of time as well. She is a tough girl, and I am looking forward to seeing how her character develops over the next season, that is for sure. Thanks for your attention, take care and have a lovely evening, girls!

I hated the time got assulted. My favorite Casey episode was Goliath she was good in the episode. Yeah the episode where Casey is attacked is one of the few SVU episodes where I actually had a physical reaction. I physically cringed when that guy beat her to a pulp! With all the sex crimes and disgusting things SVU showcases in each episode, I never would have thought that one of the most disturbing eps would be one where Novak was assaulted. It was so hard to watch. Anyway, Goliath is a great Casey episode but my favorite so far with Casey is "Poison." I think she's become closer with the squad over time and def more secure about her position at special victims, so I hope even better Casey episodes are still to come! No matter how much I miss Alex, I have to admit that Novak just getting more and more lovable.

When Casey was getting assulted it made me jump in my own skin. Casey is a good ADA I just think they have to give Diane more to work with.

They definitely do. It took the writers way too long to start incorperating Alex into the storylines; by that time it was too late, Ms. March was leaving. They should let Diane use all of her talents, she has so many.
