I will say I am glad to see so many younger people against underage drinking. I won't say I was an angel as a child, I did my share of drinking, etc but I think I was as responsible as I could be at the time and I turned out OK. I am still the casual drinker, rarely drink at home alone. Finaddict, it was the same way at my grad party. And I am bumming at the time but I understand now why they did it. My friends mom used to buy for us but only if we stayed at her place or went to our friends house where she knew we stayed(and with the rare occasion of getting food, we stayed there all night)

I agree benstabler, I was glad to see so many of our members here see the danger in under age drinking.
Trublu, congrats on being involved with SADD.
This episode really hit home for most of us.

First of this was an amazing episode. I want to say sorry to all of you who have negative experiences with underaged drinking. After I read all your comments I came to the conclusion that there is such a difference between america and the netherlands. Not that one is better than the other, but it's just different. The legal age for drinking is 16 here. This may sound ridiculously young, but we aren't allowed to drive untill we are 18. This gives young people the chance to experience with alcohol and learn how to deal with it before they are allowed to drive. I really don't approve of teenagers being drunk but I do think this time gap between allowing to drive and drink is important. The chances someone who isn't allowed to drink but has a liscence will drive drunk is bigger than someone who is allowed to drink but isn't allowed to drive. I really am not saying this because I want to promote Holland, but just to point out some differences. I do drink sometimes (I'm 19) and the first time I drank alcohol I was around 16, but it wasn't underaged drinking...this makes it not that cool, ya know what I mean. Again I don't aprrove of teenagers being IRRESPONSIBLE! Just thought I would share my experiences.

Interesting point of view, too, marleen! I totally spaced on the fact that different countries have different drinking laws. And, different driving laws as well, aparently. Maybe it works out better that way, having the drinking age being lower and the driving age be higher. While I would have been totally bummed if I had to wait another year and a half to get my license, I think it would help a lot of teens realize that driving is a serious matter, especially if you're mixing it with drinking. Here's my [limegreen]reivew[/limegreen], finally, but as I said it's pretty much all of what I said before.

yay trublu!
great review! (haha that rhymed)
i forgot about the "old man" part with munch. and casey's tirade about checking into rehab was hilarious!
the only thing is, they made fun of olivia in that video too (i believe). something about prying her legs open? i'm not sure.
i hope that the writers have more episodes like this in store.

Oh yeah, there was massive E/O tagging in that video. Even the drunk kids catch on to the E/O tension, as if it wasn't obvious enough before. *Sigh*

haha it was ridiculous how many times they mentioned it in this episode though! i can think of at least 3 instances where the sexual tension was brought up. i just hope they aren't hinting at anything.

Marlene, thanks so much for sharing your County's laws. I hadn't realised there were major differences. Your country maybe on to something.

Thanks for that insight Maureen. We used to go drink in Canada since it's 19 there, and only a 20 minute drive from here. Drunk driving is a HUGE problem here, for kids and adults. The statistics at the end of the show were very scary!

Yeah they were! I still can't believe that some people are THAT stupid... It's really great they devoted an episode to this problem!

As much as Dick Wolf has annoyed me over the years, I give him credit for the relevancy of many of his shows. This one in particular.

i just thought that i would share a story with everyone. i think it shows how easy it is for teens to drink underage.
i was in NYC today with an older (she's almost 30) cousin of mine and her boyfriend. we stopped to eat at a restaurant in Times Square. it was a pretty upscale place, and when you order dessert, i guess like a dessert wine comes with it. the waitress, who couldn't have been much older than 21 herself, didn't think twice before pouring a glass for each of us. when i informed her that i was only 16, she looked at me, apologized, and told me that she had no idea. i'll be honest, i look like a 16-year-old, if not younger. if i hadn't said anything and i had the drink she gave me, no one would have even given a thought that i was younger than 21. i wonder if when younger looking people actually order alcohol they actually card them!
i immediately thought of this episode and these conversations we've been having. it actually scares me that alcohol is that acessible to kids my age.

That is really scary, caseybeatsalex. It might lose them some business to actually card people, but hey, they're going to lose their liquor license eventually, since one day a cop is going to be in the restaurant when they do this. Glad you were honest enough to let the waitress know, though. Good for you!

Excellent example, caseybeatsalex. Sadly many times under age teens aren't carded. Stiffer fines for serving those underage are needed and better enforcement.

Interesting story. I think I was carded more as I got older! When I was younger everyone thought I was older. Kudos to you for being honest.
