Hm... I have to say that this episode was actually pretty interesting in comparison to the usual gunk we've become accustomed to dealing with in season eight. Still, I couldn't help but think that the episode had a sort of soap opera-ish feel to it. All that 'my brother' this and 'my brother that' sort of made me feel like someone was going to turn around and confess to being not only Olivia's father, still alive, but also her boss's twin brother.... -Greeneyes OMG greeneyes that's priceless. I am still laughing. ;D Also, welcome Obsession is SVU..great obsession, BTW. I hate when Elliot is over the top with a perp, too. And I can't wait for next week myself. It will set many in a tailspin.

Sorry about the really fast comment earlier - I was in the school library, and the librarian is kinda picky about what we use the Internet for. But I really wanted to follow up on the violent rampage Olivia went on with the perp.
First of all, I thought Cragen was gonna suspend her right then and there; I was surprised she got off the hook so easily, especially since Elliot has been down this road and gotten his a$$ in a sling for it.
Then, when most people would have gotten arrested for withholding information about contacting perps from the police, Oliva was let off scott free with a simple agreement to call the next time she was contacted by Simon. Granted, she did call, but how many times have we seen the SVU team arrest people for not sharing important information?
I just think this episode let too many things slide in order for the plot to work out. I'm not really sure if Olivia sifting through that one Captain Lady's files for information on Simon's case was exactly legal, either. I dunno, maybe it was just me that felt this episode lacked some realism.
Glad to see I haven't lost my sense of humor, Finaddict! But when you think about it, it's true. There was too much "General Hospital" going on for me last episode.
Finally, welcome to the boards, Obsession is SVU! Been there, done that! Hope you enjoy the place!

First off, my money for the week: ($.02): [limegreen]here[/limegreen]A couple other things: I didn't adress this in my review, but Olivia definitely got off too easily. Had it been anyone else, IAB would have been in there even before they had done the thing wrong. And then getting him on DNA and witness ID later? That's crap if I've ever heard any. Greeneyesstaring: ;D Also off the comments Greeneyes made, I think because Olivia was a cop that was why they made a deal with her about sharing information. Welcome Obession is SVU! Glad to meet you!

As always, Trublu, your review makes me see things I didn't see when I thought I was actually watching . I'm not saying it was a bad episode, I just want the storylines to involve cases rather than continual personal stuff. I also agree that more will be done on this as lots of doors are left open. I quess I need to face that the show format I loved is gone for now.

Thanks for the welcome guys, I appreciate it. Anyway, back to topic, Trublu has a good point with Liv getting off to easy. In the past, we've seen people (( namely Elliot... )) get written up for immediate suspension with possible worse consequences than just suspension for much much less of a beating than what Liv did to the perp in Florida. What. The. Heck.? Are the writers just not trying anymore with season eight? With all the other crap we've had to endure this season, it really makes me start to wonder.

Loved your review, TruBlu!
But yeah, it seems that Olivia is getting too much preferential treatment. I mean, more than she usually does.
But is what Olivia did with Simon's file on Julia's desk legal? She just snooped around until she found the pictures of the hairs found in the girl's underwear, and then she made off with them!
I dunno, I sort of felt that things were bent too much for the plot to flow in this episode.

But I guess in this case, people might overlook how Olivia got the information because 1.) She's a cop and 2.) The fact that Millfield was planting evidence and framing a suspect would have been much more important. But you're right, they're pulling a lot of punches in order to make this plot work. And this is the thing; it's like a big, blaring light because all stories have to have rules, and right now Olivia is breaking the rules without any consequence. That's not the way a story works. It makes the viewer go, "ok, that was stupid" and focus on the writing instead of the story. I guess I've been learning a lot from my Spec Fic teacher!

It really does pull the focus way from the show and to the writing. That's what we've been talking about lately. The writing - - not the story.

I really liked this episode. Strangely I was hopeing Simon was guilty...dont' ask why lol. I felt bad for Juila at the end she was kind of like Olivia in a way. Kim Delaney did an excellent job, that was one of the reasons I think that I hoped Simon was guilty. I would have loved to see Kim as a regular....too bad.

I knew what she did was about as legal as printing money off the internet. Thanks for answering my question, TruBlu. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't thinking completley out of the ballpark because no one confronted Olivia for it. Once again, sounding like a broken record: Not a lot of credibility in the consequences behind this episode's actions.
