Email Print Players Only Poker sending 15 to Playboy Mansion
By Sarah Polson
PlayersOnly Poker is sponsoring another celebrity fundraiser at the Playboy Mansion and 15 lucky players at the poker site could be on the guest list.
Players who make a $100 deposit between now and Saturday at midnight will be entered in a draw for prize packages to the $1,000-a-plate fundraiser dinner, the Players Toast Awards, taking place Sept. 8.
The players will have a shot at tickets to the special fundraiser, as well as a chance at one $10,000 prize package that will include two tickets to the event plus travel and luxury accommodation in Beverly Hills.
The event will be hosted by Carrie Stroup, Playboy Magazine's "Babe of the Month" for September, and she isn't the only celebrity attendees will get to see.
The Players Toast Awards recognizes high-profile individuals who have accomplished great tasks in their careers without forgetting about their roots. Awards will be presented to Elizabeth Taylor, Oprah Winfrey, P Diddy, Jay Z, Magic Johnson, Tyra Banks, Cicely Tyson and many more.
Ice-T and his wife, Nicole Austin, will host the event with stars such as Brandi Williams, Coolio, Danny Bonaduce, Patti Labelle and others. Coolio is expected to perform, along with Aretha Franklin and 2Deep.
"We only have a few tickets for this event this time," said David Anderson, PlayersOnly Poker manager. "Not like the party we did in Vegas last month where we could invite hundreds of players. I didn't even get to go myself this time - we can just send a few lucky tournament winners and some of our VIP players."
Proceeds from the event will benefit The Art of Elysium, a foundation that helps artists who perform volunteer work with children afflicted with life-threatening diseases.
"We believe that there is a powerful and mutual exchange of hope and appreciation that occurs when artists share their time and talent with children battling serious medical conditions," says The Art of Elysium on its Web site.
Some of the supporters of the organization include companies such as Billabong, BMW, Anheuser-Busch, Skype, eBay, GAP and more. Celebrity supporters include Penelope Cruz, Matthew McConaughy, Ryan Seacrest, Salma Hayek, Hugh Jackman and others.
This isn't the first fundraiser event at the Playboy Mansion that PlayersOnly Poker has been involved in either. In April and June, the poker site sent special freeroll tournament winners to play in celebrity fundraiser poker tournaments at the mansion.
"Let's just say there were a few distractions that night," said one of the players who won his way into the All Star Tournament at the Playboy Mansion in April. "It was kinda hard to concentrate on my game, and I was eliminated pretty fast, but it was a fantastic party that's for sure."
