I was disapointed in this episode... I agree with what was said before me... where did this obsession with this case come from... you think it would have been mentioned before at least once. Also, Casey was not given a fair shake... I did not like that at all. I'm glad Fin put Elliot in his place a bit, but the whole thing did seem out of character for both. *I don't think Fin is going to leave the show* I did like when the bad guy had his cross hairs on Lake & was ready to squeeze the trigger & all of the sudden there was Elliots pistol at his head & Liv was coming up from behind with her gun drawn... that was great!

I really really, really, did not like this episode! We got to see it a few weeks ago, and I've been thinking about it since and it really annoyed me! I was left with more questions than answers, most of which I knew I wouldn't get an answer for, and 2 great characters left, one of which was my favourite, and another could be leaving! Just so I can vent my frustration, I'm gonna tell ya the questions that bugged me! 1) Why the huge deal with this case? 2) Why does Wolf feel like he can kick Chester out when i still don't know much about him?!?!?! 3) Does that mean Casey can come back, after roughly a year? 4) Will Fin transfer? (If so, I swear, I'm kicking someones butt) 5) Why did Elliot have such a big problem with Chester? (He's a killer, he's not a killer, oh he is a killer and I'm gonna freak out about it!) 6) Why the big beef between Elliot and Fin? Where did that come from?! 7) Why get rid of Chester and Casey? ? 8) What was up with that family? Was that dude in the tactical team or what??? 9) Why would Casey suddenly destroy her career? I didn't realise she was so close to Lake, and what with her general attitude (I'm not gonna destroy my career to solve your case sort of thing) why would she do that? Ergh! I'm an angry women! My mum finds this hilarious, because I spent the next hour griping about the episode and coming up with a bunch of theories why SVU hated me, and why the episode sucked. The only good thing/s? Elliot got to redeem himself (slightly) with the whole 'saving Lake' thing he had going on at the end, with the sniper man, and the fact I got too see lots of Lake. *sigh*

What I don't like is that Chester got a blow out farewell by being arrested in front of his collegues while Casey didn't...I would think she would say "look I got disbarred so good bye" and see a nice group hug or something. Alex had a good send off, Cassidy had a good send off, Jeffries had an okay send off but Casey? Who has been on the show for a good 5 years compared to Chester's one season? Casey got ripped off big time!

I agree, Casey was treated poorly. BUT Wolf has done this before with his other shows.

I agree, Casey was treated poorly. BUT Wolf has done this before with his other shows. Well Casey is the longest running ADA of all the L&Os so it would've been a lot nicer, better if she received a much better treatment then she did. Wolf apparently doesn't have any polite manners of their disposal, just drop and forget cruelly.

2) Why does Wolf feel like he can kick Chester out when i still don't know much about him?!?!?! 3) Does that mean Casey can come back, after roughly a year? 7) Why get rid of Chester and Casey? ? Well, Chester ws initially brought in to be Casey's love interest. It looked like they were setting that up slightly in the last episode, too. However, I believe that Adam Beach had to be let go because of budgeting. Diane Neal left on amicable terms to pursue other projects. I doubt (sadly) that she will return, but I suppose that the idea is that they have the option of getting her back, even if just for a guest appearance. And, as much as I HATED the way she was written off, she was probably undecided as to whether she was going to return at the time that they filmed the episode, so they wrote it so it could go either way...hence Elizabeth saying that she was facing "POSSIBLE suspension."

I think Diane was let go for budget reasons also. Got make cuts somewhere when you pay the top 2 outlandish salaries.
Wolf has cut loose several people with huge followings over the years. Chris Noth as Det. Mike Logan after 5 years on the Mothership comes to mind. Fired for someone younger. Dann Florek as Capt. Cragen fired to hire a woman. This is what Wolf does when he wants to.
Diane will never go back to SVU. She is a huge bundle of talent and the loser is Wolf and SVU.
Chester Lake was an unecessesary addition but I was shocked at how he was written out. I didn't like this episode

It's shocking (and sad) how Wolf just can't seem to see the talent he has. I mean, Chris Noth is an extremely talented actor (come on, playing a cop and Carries boyfriend/husband/? in Sex and the City?), Diane Neal is amazingly versatile, she's proved that as she has grown over the years on SVU. Surely it would be more benificial if Wolf sat everyone down (after he'd realised what he has there) and stopped paying Chris and Mariska so much (OK, maybe they deserve it, but at the expense of other people?), and actually realise chopping and changing just loses the show fans. This episode was a big pain. It highlighted all Wolf's faults, that were already glaring obvious, and yet the sound of the episode had the potential to be amazingly cripping. Yet he wrote Chester out in a suckish way, and change his character so much (Lake was kinda vile in this one), wrote Casey out in an even worse way, and again changed a well established character (since when did Casey ever lie in court?), and decided to annoy the hell out of people by making Fin and Elliot clash (major personality overhauls there) and leaving Fin's transfer open (for those of us still waiting for S10 *sob*). Ergh!
