Well of course we had this discussion in person already ;D But regardless WHAT has happened or will happen people have their pre-determined thoughts on people and NOTHING will change that!

Well it remains to be seen what happens.
He ran on change we can believe in and almost everyone he is appointing or advising him is from the Clinton administration. That is the past.

Even though I'm in the UK, I was rooting for him, so congratualtions are definetly in order! I'm guessing that he is know the President of the USA? No more Bush? (Sorry, I'm so ignorant on this subject!) President Bush will remain in office until January 20, and then Obama will take over. Thanks Terry! That had me kinda confused for a while! And, as far as the hatred of Bush goes, I can't say that I condemn violence or anything else, or the fact that people may have only voted for someone because of hatred for someone else. But I do understand some peoples reasons for hating/disliking him. If Barack Obama can do what he says, and make a difference, then he will definetly do well. And, personally, I think if he did something to sort this 'war' out that everyone is fighting, I know he will stay in office for the entirety of his term. My main complaint of Bush has always been the 'war', although it can't really be called that anymore, because it's not, it's fighting for the sake of fighting, and so we don't lose face. I hate that we have sent innocent men and women, who joined up to protect their country, out on a suicide mission. But I hope that with the election of Barack Obama, America can lead by example, and get back to a peaceful transition of power, and that we can truely change things. Hopefully President-Elect Obama can do this.

The transistion of power has always been peaceful even if the country is at odds over something and I am greatful for that.
We need to give Obama a chance to do something. That will take time of course. We must not become impatient with him or with new ideas.
Iraq is no longer much of a threat. We have won over there in most provinces.
Now problems have arisen in India sadly. It will take skilled diplomacy to assist in that issue if we called on to do so.

yes it has been and this time should be no different BUT this has been a different election for many people so I guess a little "noise" is to be expected - pro and con.

Gotta say, I don't live in USA and I don't give a damn if he's black, white or green, I'm just so glad he won!!! And Hillary replacing Rice as a foreign minister was the second best thing to read in papers last week.
