I may be the only one who feels this way but if it were too much like real life wouldn't we be watching reality shows? Isn't that the fun of fiction?

I kinda agree with you, Kerry, they should be allowed some chunk of 'artistic freedom', but then I also feel that it shouldn't stray too much away from reality when the show is as serious as Law and Order, and especially SVU.

I second that. Although the show is fiction, that doesn't mean the stories have to be. My theory is that if you are going to portray something serious as SVU, then you should have stories that show the seriousness of it.

Thanks for the opinions all. I am admittedly not a TV watcher and have said in the past I only goot hooked on SVU due to catching a repeat by accident then a marathon but I really only watch the show due the the "nature" of it (always had an interest in criminology/psychology) but I also enjoy the fun of fiction in saying "that would SO not happen in real life."
Just wanted to share my opinion ;D

A former police chief was arrested after a stand off for shooting at his adult son. This was his 2nd incident with using a firearm while intoxicated. Since he still had his gun, that shoots (no pun intended.) holes in my theory that in real life after an incident a police officer wouldn't be able to carry a gun. I guess you are right.

It was a fair episode. It was an SVU case. I got to see Fin and I have always liked Fin and Olivia centric episodes. My major problem was again the Olivia angst. She got away with holding a gun to a man's head when it appeared she was extremely unbalanced. In the real world she would have had to give up her weapon. All she got was being told to take sometime off. This is unrealistic and irritating in the extreme. I understand the whole PTSD thing but as usual Liv was allowed to go on without dealing with the issue properly. I just want to see the show of old but I doubt that is going to happen. We get maybe one episode and then it back to either El Unstabler or Liv Angst. It is becoming obvious that this show is no longer based on correct police procedure. (sorry I posted in the wrong place, Trublu..duh.) Boy I'm in a heavy agreement with you from top to bottom! I did like the episode, I liked it better then I thought. It stuck to the case rather going off on somewhere else, especially in Olivia-land. However I think a flashback from Undercover would've been better then the extreme closeup to her face when she pulled a gun to Pruitt's head. Best part: Fin Worst part: no Elliot (not even for a second) no Stabler fix for me ...there wasn't even a mention of him! However I think I know "why"- he could've been on that unpaid leave that Cragen put him from Confessions because of the dates of the episode took place was around that time period. The episode started off at the end of September. However it would've been better if the episode, PTSD, aired after Confessions rather then Swing.

WOW on that story and sometimes life really IS crazier than fiction eh? ;D

A Police Officer using his gun in a stand off with a Swat team. His sencond offense also. I guess Wolf and the writers were basing their writing on these "ripped from the headlines" stories around here. LOL.
