I've said it before the season started, and I'll gladly say it again: I've seen this coming from miles away. It doesn't surprise me at all. I sort of think that MH leaving the show is one of the reasons we see Olivia reacting to what happened in Undercover so long after it happened. I think she'll quit her SVU job because of it in the end, or, which will probably make me require some extensive therapy, and still I may never recover, they'll write her out pregnant.
I've heard some rumors that Ice-T is going to focus on his music career after season 10, and frankly, I don't think Chris Meloni is sticking around either. And if MH, Meloni and Ice leaves, I think SVU will cease to exist.
And regardless of all that, if MH and Peter are trying for a second child, I think we can forget seeing Olivia after season 10.
For me, the only question is if she'll quit because of pregnancy or her trauma. Which, quite frankly, is not Butchy McFabulous style.
However, all of that being said, I think MH is a fantastic actress, and her leaving will be a big loss for SVU.

I was thinking the same thing. Olivia my very well quit SVU because of what happened. And well, the life span of a real SVU detective is 2 years, I think and Olivia and crew have been pushing it for 10 years...so anything may happen.
I do hope that if SVU continues past 10 years, they at least give Mariska/Olivia guest spots every now and then.

her contract only goes through this year so it seemed to me that it meant the end of her and chris on the show after that all went down last year!

I think Olivia will be the first to go. Then Elliot. I hope the show continues but bringing in new faces may help revive the show. I'm preparing myself now for that awful day when I don't see my Benson anymore...*sniff, sniff* thank god for DVD's...

Don't get me wrong but the character's view points have been pretty much the same the last 10 years - they can get pretty predictable.

I think the show has just plain gotten old. The desent into personal lifes and insane storylines has taken its toll. I am ready for the show to cease. We have 10 years of reruns to watch and I can watch Seasons 1-6 forever.

I don't blame Mariska if she wants to leave and be with August. If she does, then I'll be happy for her just as I was when she went on Maternity leave to have her baby. I did miss Olivia but I was cool with it because, well, Mariska was having her long-for baby! That's a very good reason to miss 6 (well 5 since she made an appearance in Underbelly) episodes. I'll support her decision whichever it may be.
If SVU continues without her, I would continue to watch; however if Chris follows suit...I really don't know about me continuing on as a viewer...it depends on the actor, the chemistry, and the storylines.

Same here. It really depends on the storyline/characters. Although I got hooked on the show mainly because of Mariska, I did enjoy the storylines (of old).

I got hooked on the show for Munch. I wanted to see how he would do in NYC after watching him In Homicide Life on the Streets and then for the cases. I had already been an Ice-T fan for 12-3 years and he wasn't in Season One. My actual reason for watching is now gone.

Originally I started to watch the show because I remember reading one of Mariska's magazine interviews (which, sadly, I don't have) because of her mother, Jayne Mansfield. I got curious, and well...hi, I'm Jeannette aka Mad4SVU and I'm an SVUaholic.
