Well we all know that Finaddict hates having TV show pontificate on issues either from the left or from the right. I watch SVU to forget all that. I had to give up Awards shows as they became newscasts supporting the award winners fave grievance againt the powers that be. Is SVU soon to follow? Here is my review of Nbc Nightly News...OOPS I mean SVU Well If you were a Democrat you loved it. If you were a Republican you hated it... What I just saw was a 60 min infomercial against right leaning talk radio/tv by Wolf/Baer who appear to be on theLeft side of the Aisle. (They even threw a murder case in the mix. I had to look twice to make sure I hadn't missed Brian williams intro.) Cragen was right. It wasn't an SVU case. If I didn't know better i could have sworn I was watching NBC's Nightly News.. BUT I did enjoy seeing Fin in an episode of his own. I liked the idea of a love interest for him with the reporter. His tiff with Liv unexpected. His fight with Cragen reminds me of the old days of SVU. Got to see the cast working together. And I got to see the news twice in one night. LOL.

I have to say, I disagree entirely. I think I would be more concerned if there was another side of the issue to cover... but is there a "left" side equivalent to this? I don't think there is. Admittedly, my views reside on the left, but I try to keep other's views in the picture, and see things from the other side. I cannot honestly think of a left side figure that preaches hate, where as in this case, I could make many arguments for the kinds of speakers represented in tonight's episode that profess things that truly are hateful. I don't see that as "news", just the opposite in fact; that stuff shouldn't be anywhere near the news.
I thought that the only issue with the episode is that more time could have been spent on the kids; that is really what should have made this an SVU episode and not a mothership episode. They could have spent more time on the kids' traits, such as the things that made them these "anchor" kids. I feel like the term anchor was thrown around, but not utilized to its full potential to really show why it was so horrible that these kids were killed (besides the obvious reason of killing being wrong).
But I think this was a legitimate platform to present - people in this country, and I'm sure in others - do blindly follow leaders. And people on both sides do it. However, I'm inclined to say that when it happens on the left side, the left leans a bit more towards liberalism, while the right is more exclusive, which is the only platform that would work in this episode. If it was a leftist speaker, someone blindly following that person would not really be committing these crimes.
I loved how magically Olivia's relationship with Kurt has been reduced to, "hey, do you guys remember when I dated that guy at the Ledger?" As if it was something we weren't supposed to pay much attention to.
I was slightly annoyed, however, by how Alex acted in the court room. There was no way that the line of questioning she was on against the TV personality should have been allowed. I have a hard time believing that Alex would have been that careless to so obviously lead him to a place where he could manipulate his supporters in the courtroom, and then the follow-up by the attorney was out of line as well! That should have been a mistrial then and there.

As if I wanna remember that relationship! lol.
I agree with you with Alex's 'behaviour'. I mean, didn't she learn from the first time not to piss off someone who has that kind of influence on the people around them? Granted, the TV guy did rub me the wrong way - and I was just watching. But making personal 'jabs' at anyone in a court room should have been stopped in the biginning. But I was kinda glad to see a little bit of the old Alex back.
The episode itself was...I don't know. I was so glad to see a Fin episode but it was like watching teeth being pulled. How did it become an SVU case? If they had wanted to pursue it, they should have had Fin work with Homicide instead of dragging it to SVU.
