Ok, I have to say..."WHAT THE...!"
It was, at some point's, very intense. I really liked how they showed the parents reaction upon hearing about their childs death. That was hard to watch.
four things stand out to me - more like bug me.
1) When the husband sees his ex being brought in the first time and he comes out of the interrigation room and starts his spiel (so calmly too) and then breaks out screaming - boring.
2)When they were held hostage in the morgue. Paul just wouldn't shut up. I kept screaming at the screen, "Dude, just shut up! She's the one with the gun!" I was really surprised that neither Jo nor Olivia told him to keep quiet.
3) actuallly I found this funny: When Elliot is crawling through the air ducts. First, I have never seen an air vent that clean before. lol. I kept laughing.
4) Elliot crawling through the vents very quietly. That is virtually impossible to do. Even if you're the most skilled Ninja, you couldn't crawl through an air duct that quietly. You make a lot of noice in that thing.
I think Dick Wolfe has it in for the Techs/Med. Examiners. First Ryan now Melinda. What is going on? Although I have to say, Tamara Tunie did some awsome acting in that scene. Awsome.
I'm gonna miss Jo Marlow next season. Hope they bring her back at some point. Out of all of the 'replacement ADA's', I really enjoyed Jo Marlow's character (aside from Casey of course!). She never acted as if she were trying to replace Alex/Casey. She was just being Jo and no one else. I think there is more to Jo's story - maybe a kid she had to give up or a terminated pregnancy due to her cancer. The expresion on her face says there's more to it.
That's my spiel.

Great ep, even if, to tell the truth, I was expecting something else... Good and intense case and sad, too. I almost cried when the boy died in the accident... As for the rest, for another time, some members of the squad were held hostage in their own facilities and at the gunpoint of a police gun taken by the bad guy and one of the techs/med was shot. The only difference is that this time Melinda survived. However, there was great acting from all! I almost got sick with the scene where Liv cut Melinda to help the blood come out... Sorry but I can't stand such scenes... As for Jo Marlow I 'm almost sure that we resee her in the first episodes of the new season. She said that "among these people she found herself again" so why to leave? Moreover, the "Elliot's old partner" thing wasn't touched at all in the rest three episodes so I think that they kept things for S12. (No jeallous Liv and also did anyone notice any edge between El and Liv in this last episode that was said in some summaries like in tvguide?) So good eppy and waiting for even better in September!! *btw this is my very first post here!! Nice to meet you!! ;D ;D

I wasnt expecting it to be Melinda who was shot. The scenes between Liv and Melinda were intense.
It was all in all a good episode. I wish we could have known how Melinda was doing before the seasons end but now we can worry about it all summer.
I can't imagine how a season 12 will be. They are getting pretty thins on story lines.
Welcome to the board, Watermelonsun.

Best line: Back off vultures, I'm not dead yet! by Melinda Warner I wasn't surprised that she got shot, my guess was either her or Jo. I do believe that she will be in the next season however it'll be a non mention thing like Ryan's death, it'll be forgotten. But I would like to welcome Melinda Warner in the "I Got Shot" club with Elliot, Fin, Munch, Lake, and Cabot. Shot at and faked shots don't count, nice try Olivia but you need to be in the hospital bed in order to join- it's qualified. I do think Cragen has some bullet wounds during his days as a police officer. Anyway, seriously I wanted Olivia to get shot and not play the heroine to do Operation to save a life (second time she has done this).
I think Jo's breast cancer story is no comparison to what-her-name's experience with losing a son. Sure cancer is a devastating blow, you can either survive or die but losing a child is something else. If you lose a boob, you can always get a transplant. I know I would have enjoyed the episode a bit more if Jo told a related story, losing a child and that would have been a perfect reason why Elliot stopped crawling and listened in since he knew Jo from long ago and they hadn't spoken or seen each other for about 15 years. Elliot is a parent himself as we all know and he could at least relate to that fear, he's been close to that experience with Kathleen's overdose, Maureen and Dickie's staying out late, and Eli's car accident.
I figured that the father had something to do with it, I didn't like him from the start, he didn't approve in my radar to tell you the truth. I do wish the mother shot the father. I do admit that I really did enjoy the montage of the news of the son's death being told to both parents. That was heartbreaking, it tugged my heart strings.
I guess this episode fits in the middle of bad and great. It's 50/50.
