I thought this episode shed some light on something that I, personally, have very little knowledge of. I've heard about trading organs on the "black market," but that always conjured up thoughts of the stolen kidney urban legend[/u][/url]. I didn't realize that it was referring to people volunteering to sell an organ for cash. The episode presented the two different sides very well, and I was left wondering which was the right answer. I understand that people don't want to voluntarily donate an organ (the surgery risks, time off of work, complications, etc) so a legal cash incentive program might help encourage more people to donate (and thus save countless more lives). BUT, if you start a program like this how would it be funded? Most hospitals are public/city run, so they wouldn't have the neccessary funds. Private hospitals are strapped for cash as well. Plus, you would still have people selling on the black market where they could potentially earn more money for an organ. It's a tough situation, and I thought that SVU did a nice job bringing it to light.

I agree totally TV. SVU has a way of bringing up the difficult topics and making them not as touchy as they normally are. And at the end, we're still not sure which is the "right" answer. Heck, we aren't even sure if there is a right answer at this point.
And, Marlee Matlin made an awesome guest appearance, i loved her the first time ;D

Good evening everyone, Hello, this is the Byrdman just dropping everyone a line tonight. I hope that you are all doing well, and that life has been good to you on this Hump Day of the week! I saw this for the first time last night on NBC. Wow! Such an intense and gory episode. It started out quite graphic and led on to a closer to the heart story. I espeically liked the deaf girl. I remember that she was a guest star on another show I used to watch in the 90s - "Picket Fences." She was "The Dancing Bandit," I think. I hope someone knows what I'm talking about here! Her character was very gracious and beautiful, I thought. Also, where was Mariska? I do not think she was even in this episode. Oh well, the girl deserves a break every once in a while, right? Take care, and have a wonderful night, everyone!

This was a touching episode, especially for Munch fans By the way byrdman the girl you were refering to in the episode is Marlee Matlin (she also guest-starred in the episode "Painless". from IMDB: " Marlee was nominated for an Emmy award in 1994, for her performance as Laurie Bey in the "Picket Fences" episode "Dancing Bandit."" So you were indeed thinking of the same actress. ;D

This was my first time seeing this episode as well byrdman9802, and when I first saw Marlee Matlin I was like "OMG! It's Amy Solwey! The woman who helped people kill themselves!!!" and my brother just looked at me and said, "uhhh yeah she was in another episode. Where were you ms. SVU fan???" lol So call me a bad SVU addict but I totally did not know about this episode!
And right when I realized that she was in fact Amy Solwey, I knew from the start it was going to be a deep episode with some controversy. Should the US allow people to sell their organs or not? It's a very interesting question to me. Anyway, I also LOVE the connection between Munch and Amy. It's brother/sister, friendly, and loving all rolled into one! GREAT EPISODE!

Dear Trublu and missinCABOT, Hey, girls! Good evening to you both, I hope that you girls are doing well today, just like me. I wanted to thank you both for getting back on my thoughts on this episode. Trublu: Hey, girl! Thanks so much for providing the info on the girl I was talking about. Laurie Bey, that is what her name was. Thanks for clearing that up, and for your research, girl. missinCABOT: Hey, girl! Yes, I had no idea that this girl was in another SVU episode, either. Plus, you aren;t a bad addict, I'm in the same boat you are, girl. We're just learning, right? In any case, I am glad that you enjoyed the show. I personally liked all the scenes with Novak myself. Thanks again for getting back, girls. Take care, and please have a great night! See ya, girls!

For the people who haven't seen "Painless" (the first episode with Amy Solway/Marlee Matlin) it should definitely be on your list of episodes to see. It is a season five eppy, so for those of you who have the DVD's, you are all set. Marlee Matlin is absolutely awesome in it. ;D
