Casey's back!!!!! www.tvline.com/2011/03/law-order-svu-scoop-diane-neal-returns/Law & Order: SVU Scoop: Diane Neal Returns!Onetime Law & Order: SVU ADA Diane Neal is returning to Law & Order: SVU this spring for one episode, sources confirm. Neal’s five-year SVU stint came to an end in May 2008 when her character, Casey Novak, was disbarred for violating due process in a rape case. To this day she remains the show’s longest-serving ADA. Neal most recently recurred on NCIS as Special Agent Abigail Borin.

www.tvline.com/2011/03/law-order-crossover-scoop-lolas-terrence-howard-drops-by-svu/Law & Order Crossover Scoop: LOLA's Terrence Howard Drops By SVU!In a shrewd bit of product placement, NBC is embedding Law & Order: Los Angeles leading man Terrence Howard in an episode of Law & Order: SVU. The crossover — slated to air during May sweeps — finds Howard’s LOLA character, DA Joe Dekker, stepping outside his official DA post to defend a friend’s son. Representing the people will be returning ADA Casey Novak (Diane Neal). NBC has yet to announce a return date for LOLA, which underwent a major revamp earlier this year in the face of disappointing ratings and reviews. The network is no doubt hoping a little exposure on SVU will give the rookie drama a boost.

www.tvline.com/2011/03/ask-ausiello-spoilers-glee-bones-castle/Question: Does B.D. Wong getting cast in that NBC pilot mean he’s leaving Law & Order: SVU? —Janet Ausiello:Maybe. His SVU contract was up and the network gave him the OK to pursue other work. If REM gets a green light, Huang will not be back next season. And if it doesn’t, my guess is he’ll return as a recurring guest star. It also should be noted that SVU itself hasn’t been formally picked up yet, but, let’s be real, it will be. As a matter of fact, I’m so confident SVU will see a 13th season that I just upgraded it from a “safe bet” to “a sure thing” on TVLine’s Renewal Scorecard.

May Sweeps ScorecardJust look through the lists until you see what SVU is under. I don't want to say too much, because this is a pretty major spoiler, but from other things posted here, I can probably guess who it will apply to...

There are a few things they could explain:
1. Burn out - he resigned his position. 2. He was re-assigned to a different division/department 3. (the typical/standard line) He took some (very long) time off...
I'll stick with # 1. The look on his face at the end of the episode kinda gave me the impression that Elliot wouldn't really be the same again after shooting that kid. It's really not uncommon for an officer/detective to burn out (especially if you've been doing it for 12 years)

I like number one myself JuniorBenson. I was afraid they would announce he had been killed in the line of duty.

I think if they did that, then a lot of people would be in such an uproar. And the network/show would lose a lot of viewers.

Exclusive: Law & Order: SVU Takes on Arnold Schwarzenegger Scandalwww.tvline.com/2011/07/law-order-svu-arnold-schwarzenegger-scandal/#more-232910The only thing the Arnold Schwarzenegger love-child scandal was missing was a crime. And now Law & Order: SVU is taking care of that. Sources confirm to TVLine exclusively that the lone remaining L&O is plotting an episode this fall loosely inspired by the real-life drama involving the secret son Schwarzenegger fathered with a member of his household staff. In the SVU version, Schwarzenegger’s doppelganger is Andrew Raines, a charming, seductive Master of the Universe-esque philanthropist in his 50s who is part of one of New York’s royal families. His wife, Kathleen, is (duh) the Maria Shriver of the piece: charming, charismatic and fiercely protective of her family. She’s the perfect match for her perfect husband, though unlike him, she is not afraid to get down and dirty when attacked. That trait will come in handy when she discovers that her hubby had an affair with someone in their inner circle, a romance that produced — yep, you guessed it — a bastard. It’s unclear where the sex crime comes in, but an insider tells me it involves the golden couple’s wealthy, entitled son, Tripp. A show rep declined to comment, except to say, “SVU is fiction.” The episode is slated to air early in the show’s upcoming 13th season, which kicks off Wednesday, Sept. 21 at 10/9c.

I loved the ripped from the headlines stories. I can't wait to see SVU's take on this scandal.

www.tvline.com/2011/08/law-order-svu-stabler-spoilers-departure/#more-239245Law & Order: SVU Exclusive: Stabler's Exit to Be Dealt With Over 'Several Episodes'
Aug. 10th, 2011 by Micahel Ausiello Law & Order: SVU won’t be glossing over the disappearance of Chris Meloni’s Det. Stabler when the show returns this fall. A week after NBC Robert Greenblatt ruled out the possibility of Stabler dying off screen, new showrunner Warren Leight tells TVLine exclusively that the character’s departure will be explained — and there will be fallout. “The reasons for his absence,” says Leight, “and the effect it has on the squadroom — and Olivia (Mariska Hargitay) — will be explored in the first several episodes.” The show’s boss declined to elaborate, but it’s safe to say the events of last May’s finale — in which Stabler shot and killed a young girl — will figure into his exit. Meloni’s 12-year SVU stint came to an end in May after the actor and NBC failed to come to terms on a new contract. To help fill the void, SVU is introducing new detectives played by Danny Pino (Cold Case) and Kelli Giddish (The Good Wife). Season 13 kicks off on Sept. 21 at 10/9c

www.tvline.com/2011/09/ask-ausiello-spoilers-glee-gossip-girl-castle-svu/#more-252393Question: I’m still in denial that Chris Meloni is not returning to Law & Order: SVU. Do you have any more intel on how Stabler’s absence will be addressed? —Kim
Ausiello:In an early scene of Wednesday’s premiere, it’s mentioned that he’s “still out.” And because of ongoing developments regarding the shooting he was involved in, it is said that he will have to jump through “a lot of hoops” if he wants to return to the job. (And by the way, that’s a big “if.”) It all leads to one of Mariska Hargitay’s most gut-wrenching scenes ever.

So he's just on 'suspension'? Hmmm...interesting...
"it is said that he will have to jump through “a lot of hoops” if he wants to return to the job"...which leads to the perfect set up of new characters. I like it. Very clever way of doing it.
