This was a very funny interview with Diane and Richard. A lot of people were having trouble viewing this, so I did one of my transcripts for anyone who wants to be in on the fun anyways
*Open with clip from SVU*
Munch: So’s every criminal, so’s my partner for that matter, what makes Barnett so special?”
Fitzpatrick: On the set of Law and Order: SVU it is all business for actors Richard Belzer who plays John Munch, and Diane Neal aka Assistant District Attorney Casey Novak. But off camera, their personalities pop. Did you know that Belzer does Elvis?
Richard: I have a recording of his bar mitzvah. Which I can receate for you now.
*Diane in the backround*
Diane: Do it, do it.
Richard: *recites words of Torah in Elvis voice *Baruch ata adonai elohenu melech haolam.*
*Diane is laughing hysterically in backround*
Richard: There’s a scoop for your fans.
*Cut to seen of Casey in SVU*
Fitzpatrick: Where Casey Novak is cold and calculating, Neal is really quite a *unidentifiable word*
Diane: Its so different from how I feel… I’m such a goon in real life. Its fun to play someone entirely different, its all about JUSTICE *makes some sort of fist of justice or something *
*Diane and Richard chat in the backround*
Fitzpatrick: A veteran stand up comic, everyone’s a target in Belzer’s world, even the governor of California.
Richard: I just think that anybody, anybody who becomes governor of a state should be able to pronounce the name of the state that they’re governor of.
*Diane in the backround trying to pronounce “California” like “Ah-nold”*
Richard: Sounds like he’s saying “cahli-flowah” (cauliflower).
*L&O:SVU opening title screen and “doink-doink”*
*Cut to shot of crew and Chris Meloni, then a scene with Chris and Mariska, and Bebe Neuwirth in “Day”*
Fitzpatrick: Back on the set of Law and Order: SVU, Belzer says the secret behind the Law and Order franchise is the teamwork between the actors, writers and producers.
Richard: They all have that wow factor, they all do well in the ratings, they all have great stories that are, uh, not always neatly resolved, but there is a beginning, middle and end.
*Cut to Richard when he is talking, then to Casey*
Fitzpatrick: Belzer and Neal admit the perks of being on a hit show are quite nice.
*Cut back to Richard and Diane*
Richard: It’s great to get in, you know, cutting in line at a restaurant, *Diane now has a very confused look on her face* .
Diane: You get to cut in line at restaurants?! What?! What is this, where have I been?!
Richard: McDonalds-
Diane: OH!
Richard: White Castle-
Diane: Oh, that happened to me once.
Richard: McDonalds…
Diane: Taco Bell …
*They continue talking and laughing*
Fitzpatrick: Deirdre Fitzpatrick, KCRA, reports.
