I have to say, I enjoyed this episode immensely, though I did have two rather large reservations:
1. The episode focused on two cases, and while the victims were the common link, it felt like two separate storylines more often than not. I feel like they could have made a whole episode out of the camp counselor story, as well as Mike Tyson's storyline. The combination seemed forced and awkward to me.
2. Mike Tyson's casting bothered me not only because of the controversy, but because I didn't think his acting was that good! He didn't really have the range of emotions necessary to make me believe the character. The storyline helped carry him most of the way, but his character fell completely flat at the finish line because of the lack of characterization.
I enjoyed the episode overall, though, because the stories (both of them) were intriguing, and each had that appropriate kicker that made this a true SVU episode instead of a nameless procedural. I actually really like this angle of Olivia working with Ellis when it's in the interest of justice, and I very much enjoy the dynamics between Fin, Amanda, and Nick.

I'm surprised myself. I thought it was a decient episode. I do agree with you Trublu on #1. But then again they've always done that in most episodes. At least this wasn't one of those disjointed episodes that completely missed the mark.
I have to (grudgingly) admit that MT did a pretty good job with his acting. Is it up there with the likes of all the other top notch guest stars? Hell no, but for someone that's had his head bashed in a few times in the ring, he did an ok job. What I took from it was that MT's character was finally at peace with all that's happened to him - really mellow for a guy that is about to die. On the flip side, he did come off as a little too mellowed out for a guy that's gonna die. Know what I mean? If it were me, I'd be a little more pissed off that all these years, the cops wanna help me now. I was expecting MT's character (can't remember his name) to at least be pissed off that his lawyer screwed him during the trial as well as the prosecuter. I'd be seriously livid.
Over all, good episode. But I'm still on the fence about casting MT in this epi. I have a lot of mixed emotions about that.

From what I can tell, the ratings definitely took a hit; whether it was specifically because of Mike Tyson, it's hard to say, but according to Futon Critic ratings tumbled over 11% in the 18-49 year olds category from the previous episode. That's definitely not what they were looking for! www.thefutoncritic.com/ratings.aspx?id=broadcast_20130206
