I don't know how many of you guys know this, but this time a year is the unfortunate anniversary for the three major accidents in the history of US spaceflight. On January 27, 1967, Gus Grissom, Ed White and Roger Chaffee died training for Apollo 1. On January 28, 1986, Francis Scobee, Michael Smith, Ellison Onizuka, Ronald McNair, Judith Resnik, Gregory Jarvis and Christa McAuliffe died when Challenger exploded 73 seconds after liftoff. On February 1, 2003, Rick Husband, William McCool, David Brown, Laurel Clark, Michael Anderson, Kalpana Chawla and Ilan Ramon died when Columbia disintegrated while re-entering the atmosphere before landing. And each year, NASA pauses for a day of rememberance, honoring their astronauts and remembering the astronauts who have died. Here you can read more about America's fallen astronauts.

Thanks Terry for posting this reminder for us. I was only around for the Columbia disaster, but every one of those people will be in my thoughts for the next few days.

I never realized those were all so close. I remember the Challenger very well. I still remember exactly where I was and who told me.
