In my day, also known as the stone age. LOL.. Catholic confirmation took place when one was in the 8th grade it was the same for my kids in the early 80's.

I guess somethings never change. LOL.. confirmation is either a late 8th grade or early 9th grade event.

Mine would have taken place in 10th grade, when I was 16. Were you guys younger, then?

I was 14, but I was one of the younger kids in my class. We had it at the beginning of Freshman year but we had classes and all that through 8th grade so we waited until after the summer to have Confirmation. If that makes any sense...

Thanks for the in-depth answers guys. I didn't realise what a big thing it was. Does it ever happan when kids are older, say if they've converted, or is it a purely 8th-9th grade thing?

It can happen whenever a person wants, really. There are programs now that allow people to be baptised and be confirmed at the same time.
