Well the episode turned out better then what I expected. I was expecting Hilary Duff (especially her) to be a poppy, bubbly, annoyingly-cheerful bobber...she actually performed well.
Dale Stuckley is driving me (as well as Ryan and Elliot) nuts! At first in Ballerina I thought cute but now it's arghhhhhhhhh!

Not a bad episode considering I'm not a fan of Hilary. She's got good acting chops.
Dale Stuckley...'bing, bang, bong!' Good Lord! Can anyone shut him up! Wouldn't he have been fired for tipping off the press? I work for the government and we have to sign piles of confidentiality papers - if we went to the media without the permission of our bosses, we'd get fired - breach of security/privicy...that sorta thing.

I liked this episode...but it was sad and I totally agree about Dale, he's soo annoying I've never liked him. He needs to just go away forever. That lady Monica[?] should've immuized her kid I mean come on it's wrong not to.

it was a great but it still disturbed me! i grew up in a world where if you didn't get your kids their shots there was a bigger chance of them dieing. these days they say that shots cause Autism which is total waste of breath. the new guy Dale is the most annoying addition to this show...EVER!

I didn't really like this episode. Though, I had also, like many of you, expected to hate Hillary Duff, but I was positively surprised by her. I thought that the dead kid's family was the most annoying bunch I've seen in a long while. And I couldn't help but think that it was a lousy performance in court by Alex.
On the vaccine note, I think it is somewhat foolish not to vaccine children. In western countries, these things aren't vouched for by healthcare professionals if they're not tested thouroghly and approved. I've had more vaccines than I think is "normal", and I've never had any bad side effects from them. I do have a scar on my arm after a TB vaccine that still hurts if I touch it, despite the fact that it's been years, and it's not very pretty, but I think that's about the only thing I can complain about.
I did support the mother's right not to get her son vaccinated, though. Hillary Duff's kid wasn't vaccinated either.

1. Hillary's baby was only about a year and you are not supposed to get shots until after you turn 1 2. She had a HORRIBLE New York accent! lol 3. The courtroom scene was HILARIOUS!

And I couldn't help but think that it was a lousy performance in court by Alex. I was hoping the person on the phone was Liv giving her a love text ;D hehehehe... Hah! I can hear the parody fic coming now. Last I really remember Hillary Duff was from Lizzie McGuire, so it was a pleasure seeing her in this role, I think she played it well. I was ready to kill the mother and torture Dale, though. I hate him too much for him to be a useful character. He needs to go. I was a little back and forth about the argument they were presenting. On one hand, it seems like it should be a parent's choice about whether to vaccinate, but doesn't the child have the right also to not get sick and die? In other words, exactly what happened, only indirectly. I would agree with the court's verdict, that the mom should have vaccinated her son, but that she couldn't control the death of the baby (I cannot remember any names right now). Alex seemed kind of off too; when they were eating in her office after Monica(?) testified, I was shocked to hear her say that it was in the bag. After seeing the testimony, I would think that would be what pushed the jury the other way! Now, off to write that love-text fic.

*If the mother did so much research of MPR-Vaccine and measles, how could she not know how easily measles spreads? She was being selfish when deciding not to vaccinate her child. Convicting her of murder would had been wrong but she should have been put responsible of something! Sure people who don't vaccinate their children are thinking they're doing the best thing, but IMO their are irrisponsible and, sorry, plain idiots. It's healthy to be aware of things and know to be sceptical, but you should also have common sense and know how to read pressed information. *It was nice to see more Alex!!

It will take a long time until I see this episode here (at least a year i guess) but I wanted to give my opinion to vaccination. There are (I think from what I've read) many parents here in Germany who are against it. I don't understand this. My daughter is vaccinated against everything (next week a refreshment is due). I also think it's irresponsible to risk your child getting diseases like measles etc. But some obviously think it's okay to get them. They even hold/attend "measle-parties" so their children get them and "are finished with them forever". Crazy i m o.

But there are some kids that are immune to a lot of the stuff out there and are able to fight off whatever is out there while some kids aren't that strong. In my expericence, I have always been sickly so my mom thought it best to get my shots/vaccinations just so it doesn't become serious down the road. Recently I had to get a couple of booster shots plus my flu shot. Now with this swine flu, I'd be very nervous if a kid didn't get a vaccination. That's just my opinion.

I liked this episode for the most part. I have always liked Gale O'Grady and I have never seen her in a roll like this. I am not a fan of Hilary Duff but she was okay also. It was nice to see Melinda playing a larger than usual role and her testimony on the vaccines was accurate. A parent needs to get their child vaccinated. I think part of the problem with parents not doing this is that so much time has passed since anyone had to deal with the diseases eliminated by vaccines. They have no idea of the death and devastation caused by whooping cough, diptheria, polio and smallpox. Measles and Mumps and chicken pox were found to be deadly also even though much later than the first 4 I mentioned. Since I am sonmewhat of a senior member of this board, I can tell you that these diseases killed children on a regular basis. My mother survived diptheria and whooping cough. I was in 2nd grade before the Salk vaccine for polio was available. Some of my friends had siblings affected by this disease. I remember the fear of my parents and neighbors every summer when it was the so called polio season. We kids were watched like hawks for any sign of illness. What has happened IMO is that many parents in their 30's have no memory or contact with anyone who survived these diseases. They forget that many children didn't live through their first 2 years let alone get old enough to go to school. I think this episode did an excellent job of bring this out. Not vaccinating her 4 year old led to the death of another person's child. Measles is on the move again and there is no excuse for this. Hats off to SVU for bringing this subject to light. It was particulary timely with Swine flu now on the horizon. Most don't have any idea of what a pandemic can do having never lived through one. Oh well I digress from the episode with that so I will end my rant.

Don't forget SARS. I'm canadian and that's the closest thing to a 'pandemic' that I've ever gotten.
